Imagine a postcard-perfect view of shophouses and busy streets in the day and a calming sunset experience in the evening and you get an idea of what awaits you at Chef Daniel's Kitchen – a rooftop dining restaurant opened in 2009 by award-winning local chef Daniel Koh. With over 40 years of culinary experience and a background in classic French cuisine under his belt, the celebrity chef has appeared in numerous television programs and created his own DK7 Spice Blend, made out of seven types of spices and herbs and used to add a dose of flavour to any home-cooked meal.
The restaurant's gourmet set lunch ($16.80-$22.80), which comes with soup and a main course, features chef Daniel's signature crab meat burger – a delectable chunky prawn and crab meat patty flavoured with DK7 Spice Blend. Other must-trys from the menu include chef Daniel's award-winning dishes like wok-charred salmon ($26) with soy butter, braised shiitake and pickled ginger, oven-roasted spring chicken ($28) and pan-fried foie gras, as well as Chef Daniel's Pepper Steak ($40) – a juicy char-broiled tenderloin smothered in black pepper sauce and served with with oven-roasted seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes. For a sweet ending to your meal, order the melt-in-your-mouth Flambéed Baked Alaska ($12) with durian ice cream, or sink your teeth into their one-of-a-kind Crêpes Suzette ($14). Benita Lee
