Located at Robertson Quay, 250-seater Barraka is the latest addition to Singapore’s burgeoning number of tapas bars. Its interior blends the muted tones of its furnishings with warm lighting, creating a relaxed ambience for diners to slowly savour its traditional Spanish fare. The extensive menu, offering almost 80 items, is created by Chef Sergio Hernández Sevillano, a Madrid native. Begin with the bombas de la barceloneta ($10), or stuffed potato with pork, to whet your appetite before tackling the grilled secreto cut of pork from the front and back legs as well as the back of the Black Iberian Pig ($32), served with roast potatoes and vegetables. For a veggie option, try the paella vegeteriana ($29), a mix of red and green peppers, zucchini, black and green beans with Spanish rice for two. To top it all off, there are classic Spanish sweet treats such as the crema catalane ($10), a caramelised vanilla custard flavoured with citrus peel and cinnamon, plus a selection of beers, wines and cocktails.
