Not long ago, a particular Innate Personality Traits quiz by a Taiwanese design company was trending like crazy in Singapore. This was partly because its visuals were super cute, but also because unlike the more serious MBTI quiz or Enneagram test, it followed a whimsical and lighthearted storyline that took the reader through a whole mythical adventure.
Now, there’s a Singaporean counterpart of sorts to this quiz, and it’s called ‘You Simi Flavour’ – which translates to “what flavour are you” from Singlish.
Released just in time for National Day 2024, this quiz also takes you on a little journey, but with an element of Singapore’s rich history incorporated into it. We won’t give you too many spoilers, but it involves the iconic Merlion, as well as a time-travel journey back to 1299 where you’ll meet Sang Nila Utama, the prince of Palembang and founder of Singapura.
There are a total of 12 questions, and each question comes with two options, so it’s fairly quick and easy to complete. At the end, your ice cream personality will be revealed – not just any ice cream, but traditional favourites that we all love and grew up with, courtesy of our friendly local ice cream uncles. Some results include red bean potong, mocha chip, raspberry ripple, and yam potong, among plenty others.
Your results page will list out some of your personality traits and motto, along with your perfect profile pairing and flavour clash.
Props to the designers who came up with the adorable pixellated 8-bit visuals – those bring an added element of nostalgia, and make the quiz-taking experience a whole lot more fun.
This ‘You Simi Flavour’ quiz is part of a larger Singapore@Home campaign, created by government agency Singapore Global Network.
