Singapore is home to plenty of big international F&B names – some of the more recent entrants include Cote Korean Steakhouse from New York, wagyu ramen chain Mashi no Mashi from Japan, and L’antica Pizzeria da Michele, one of the oldest and most well-loved pizzerias from Naples.

The latest one joining the list? SushiSamba, which combines the celebration of food with music and dance. With a slew of existing outlets in cities like London, Las Vegas, Edinburgh, Dubai, and more, this world-famous restaurant-bar is opening its first Asia-based branch right here in Singapore this July 2024. And of course, in true SushiSamba style, they’ve chosen to go big and swanky – starting by claiming their territory on the 52nd storey of Capital Tower, complete with 360-degree views of the cityscape and even its surrounding waters.

If you’re familiar with the SushiSamba brand, you’ll know that all their restaurants, regardless of location, are designed to be highly flamboyant, yet carry a certain air of sophistication. Each one is distinctly different from the other, but all of them have similar nature-centred elements in their decor. While the Covent Garden branch is a garden oasis peppered with flowers, the one at Doha is tropical-themed, complete with beach club. Edinburgh’s has a tree with flaming red leaves standing majestically in the middle of the circular bar counter.

As for Singapore’s outpost, verdant greenery fills its interiors – likely a nod to our garden city status. Wooden arches stretch artistically across the space, creating the impression of arched ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows offer some of the best views, especially during sunset. A theatre-style open kitchen and robata grill lets you watch the chefs in action, while DJs spin an upbeat mix of Afro, Brazillian, and Latin-inspired tunes. And as if this vibrant establishment isn’t already enough of a feast for the eyes and ears, there’ll be Samba dancers and percussion musicians providing extra entertainment. Date night can’t get any more unique than this.

Hosting a private function? SushiSamba has three private rooms with TV screens suitable for presentations. This is also an ideal spot to hold an intimate family gathering or celebration, away from the chatter of everyone else.

Now, on to the food. As its name might hint, SushiSamba cooks up Japanese fusion cuisine – specifically, an innovative riot of Japanese, Peruvian, and Brazilian flavours. Dishes are made using top-notch ingredients thoughtfully sourced from across the globe, including the freshest catch from Japan, as well as organic produce from local farms.

SushiSamba Singapore’s full menu isn’t out yet, but a little birdie told us that diners can look forward to signatures such as Peruvian ceviche and sashimi, though some items will be tweaked specially to suit the Singaporean palate. There will also be Singapore-exclusive items like the Samba Singapore roll.
