Wine enthusiasts and oenophiles might have heard of Vivino – the largest online wine marketplace in the world and also the most downloaded wine app globally with 65 million users. This September 19, it will be unveiling its first-ever brick-and-mortar global flagship store at Raffles City Shopping Centre, and here’s what to expect.
The store will occupy a sprawling 2000-square-foot space in the shopping mall, with shelves stocking a curation of over 100 wine labels which have been rated over four stars on its website. Prices start at an affordable $19.90 per bottle. The vast selection also includes a range of rare and limited-edition wines, including some globally best-selling bottles that will be brought to Singapore for the first time.
On top of its usual retail space, there will be kiosks at Vivino offering personalised recommendations to customers who might either be new to the wine world, or seasoned drinkers looking for new suggestions. These booths will be labelled “Vivino Recommends”, and there will be a strong technology focus where recommendations will be made based on crowd-sourced data to help customers choose the perfect bottle based on their preferences.
And what’s a wine shop without a little tasting involved? The Vivino flagship takes it to the next level with a Vivino Wine Bar – an open-concept bar offering wines by the glass ($12) from a rotating selection of labels. Tapas (from $12) will also be available for wine pairings.
Beyond selling wines, the store also aims to create a space for wine lovers to connect. As such, it will be rolling out year-round activities, though specific event details have yet to be released. Vivino will also be running a one-for-one opening promotion on some of its highly-rated bottles for the first four weeks of its opening, starting from September 20. This deal is available to new subscribers of its mailing list and is limited to one redemption per customer.
