TUX Bar and Lounge launches new signature cocktails inspired by local flavours

We tried them all, including those that taste like chicken rice and laksa – here’s what we think

There’s something irresistible about cocktails that flirt with local flavours – and TUX Bar & Lounge is pouring out a whole new reason to sip. Its latest lineup of signature cocktails ($28 each) is a love letter to Singapore – just in time for SG60.

The Old Fashioned Nonya is a pandan-infused spin on the whisky classic. It’s like a liquid nonya kueh, with gula melaka notes lingering gently at the end of every sip, making for a pleasant aftertaste.

Then there’s Bandung Unplugged, which defies logic. It looks crystal clear but delivers all the milky, rose-syrupy goodness of the drink your auntie used to make – only this time with vodka. Wondering how it gets that translucent look? Here’s the inside scoop: milk-washing – a clever technique where milk is curdled and strained, leaving behind a silky, clarified drink with all the flavour and none of the cloudiness.

For something spicier, the Gin-Ken Chilli Sour is a bold gin tribute to chicken rice, with garlic, chilli padi, ginger and lime. It’s punchy, complex, and definitely one for the adventurous palate. A more citrusy alternative is the Laksa Margarita, which blends tequila with laksa leaf and lemongrass for a tangy, tropical kick.

But if there’s one showstopper we can’t stop talking about, it’s the BTC (aka Boba Tea Cocktail). With rum, black tea, and house-made chewy pearls, it’s a playful finish to your drink.

Pro tip: you can customise the sweetness of these cocktails to your liking, which is perfect for those who always order “less sweet”. Sit outdoors to soak in the city breeze, and if it rains, stick around for Wet Hour – think Happy Hour that kicks off when it pours and continues until it stops. There’s also Triple Tipples Sunday ($30 for three cocktails), Cocktail Night Thursdays ($16 per cocktail), and Ladies’ Night Wednesdays with one-for-ones. Hotel guests, you get a cheeky discount too – ideal for a nightcap before heading up to your room.
