The popular Tokyo sandwich cookie brand Press Butter Sand will open its very first Singapore outlet in Takashimaya Department Store, basement 2, on December 8, 2023.

Opened in Tokyo Station in 2017 by Bake Inc, the famed brand is known for its impeccable branding and delicious buttercream sandwiches. Other brands under Bake Inc include Baked Cheese Tart, one that exited Singapore recently in 2019.

Press Butter Sand’s cookies are unlike any other. The small square treat packs a punch with its Hokkaido buttercream and butter caramel filling. Both sides of the ‘sandwich’ are then pressed and sealed together using iron griddles. The cookie also utilises the hasami-yaki technique, one that is used in the crafting of hasami pottery (porcelain produced in Hasami in Nagasaki prefecture) to ensure an even finish on each cookie.

The Takashimaya outlet will carry three basic flavours: original, uji matcha, and chocolate. Prices will also be slightly more expensive than Japan’s – ranging from $4 to $4.80 per cookie, and a box of five at $22.50.

And delicious news – the first 500 customers to spend over $60 on their opening day will stand a chance to win three free Christmas cookies in exclusive flavours.
