It’s time to don your frilliest frock and dress up your hair with pretty bows for a day out with the girlies – because Singapore’s very first coquette-themed photo booth studio has just opened its doors at Capitol Piazza. While this is yet another branch under Solace Studios – a Korean-inspired photo booth chain with quite a handful of stores throughout Singapore – it’s currently the only one out of the lot that leans towards feminine and cute, rather than edgy or minimalist.
We’re not sure if this coquette-themed outlet was created specifically with the “very demure, very mindful” TikTok trend in mind, but it has certainly come just in time to further fuel the hype. For those who aren’t familiar with it, coquette is a trending fashion style that’s unapologetically ultra-feminine, with a hint of old Western charm – think puff-sleeved dresses with flouncy skirts, pastel colours, and elegant embellishments like pearls, ribbons, and lace.
At first glance, you just might mistake Solace Studios’ coquette-themed outlet for a fancy boutique or nail salon, thanks to its luxe Victorian-esque decor. Within are three photo booth stations, each with a curtain backdrop in a different colour: white, dark blue, and lush red. For the ultimate soft girl vibe, we’d say go straight for the white one.
In lieu of the usual instant photo booth props like silly animal hats and oversized sunglasses, this studio has a series of classy accessories such as books, headbands adorned with roses and pearls, as well as fake fruit and pastries. Very cutesy, very demure.
TIME OUT TIP Don’t just let time pass while waiting for your turn. With the entire outlet so impeccably decorated, you might as well take some selfies throughout the space too. Gotta make that trip count.
As with other Solace Studios outlets, the photo booth machines here come with a variety of frame layouts and designs. However, this one has outlet-exclusives specially designed to fit the romantic setting. Most befitting of the coquette aesthetic is the frame with pink lace patterns. There’s also one with a newspaper print frame, and another with simple yet sophisticated embossed-looking borders.
With this being such a luxurious-looking space, you’d expect prices here to be jacked up, but you’ll be glad to know that they remain affordable at $10 per sheet – that’s just $5 per piece if you opt for the photo strips and split them with one friend. Every additional photo strip costs $2.
This coquette self photo booth studio by Solace Studios is located at level B2 of Capitol Piazza along the underground linkway leading to Funan, and is open daily from 10.30am to 10.30pm. There’s direct access from City Hall MRT, so you don’t even have to step outdoors to get here and risk having the humidity ruin your perfectly coiffed look.
