The long National Day weekend is approaching – and we've got just the right activity for you. Tokyo-based art collective teamLab, the same geniuses behind Future World at ArtScience Museum, has just given us a sneaky preview of a special seasonal artwork to celebrate Singapore's 56th birthday.
For the uninitiated, Digital Canvas at Marina Bay Sands is an interactive digital art installation where visitors can step beyond the boundaries of physical space. Shoals of fish gather in the ocean beneath you as crystals light up overhead. The interactive exhibition also lets visitors paint calligraphic art with their feet while flowers blossom all around. From August 7 to 22, there'll be a limited-time seasonal artwork called 'teamLab Crystal Fireworks with Nature’s Rhythm', which will be on display for National Day.

Our city skyline may not be lit up by the usual stunning display of pyrotechnics, but teamLab is bringing the party indoors – and you and the entire family get to be part of this interactive artwork, too. Scan the QR code with your phone and decorate the teamLab Crystal Tree with ornaments or set off over 30 animated Crystal Fireworks and light displays on the Digital Light Canvas. It'll be a feast for the eyes.
For special celebrations, you can even head to the Retail Concierge Counter and arrange for a personalised message to appear on the LED floor in beautiful calligraphy, complemented by fireworks in the suspended light sculpture.
'teamLab Crystal Fireworks with Nature’s Rhythm' is a limited-time artwork that will run from August 7 to 22, and entry will be $5 per person. For more info, visit marinabaysands.com.
