Known for its quirky designs and easy-to-wear watches, Swatch pays tribute to all the things we love about Singapore. For the first time, the brand has launched a Singapore-inspired watch for its popular Destination series. Called Singapore Tale, the piece is designed by local artist and illustrator Tan Zi Xi, also known as Messymsxi. It joins other Destination watches from cities such as Brussels, Geneva and more than 50 other places around the world.
Iconic landmarks, food and symbols appear on the watch. You'll find the CBD skyline on the face as well as other Singaporean figures along the watch strap. There are attractions like the Singapore Flyer and Gardens By The Bay, local eats such as chicken rice, a cup of kopi and durian, and nostalgic throwbacks such a $1 ice cream cart and the old-school dragon playground. Each icon on the watch is designed like an emblem, inspired by vintage blue and white (steering away from the obvious red and white) Peranakan tiles from the 1970s.
Wear your Singapore pride on your wrist – but be quick, there are only 2,500 pieces available so time is ticking if you want to get your hands on a piece.
The Singapore Tale watch is available in all Swatch stores in Singapore and retails at $125.
