Remember the Korean bakery pop-up which drew snaking long queues last year, where a particular apple bun was the centre of the hype? Well, Suhyeongdang, the name responsible for the craze, is returning for another limited-time event this year. And there’s no need to go into FOMO mode, because the stall will be up and running for a whopping 21 days this time, from today, February 19, all the way to March 10, 2024.

For the uninitiated, Suhyeongdang (also known as Bakery 1946) caused quite a stir in Singapore last year with their K-apple buns, which not only come with a generous filling of cream cheese, apple puree, and real apple bits, but also realistically resemble the actual fruit.

If prices are consistent with last year’s, each box of six goes for $34.90, which averages out to slightly over $5.80 per piece. Though on the pricier end for a bun, this didn’t deter foodies from making multiple visits for their fix – to the point of the buns being fully sold out on more than one occasion. Suhyeongdang eventually opened up a pre-order system, where eager customers were able to place their orders and make payment online in advance for scheduled pick-ups. At present, it is still unclear as to whether there will be pre-orders opening for this round.

Other popular items making a comeback include the sweet potato bread, black sesame peanut crumb bread, and red bean buns with various cream fillings such as matcha, injeolmi (ground roasted soybean), and strawberry. There will also be a new gift box set with traditional Korean bread up for grabs this time.

Suhyeongdang bakery’s pop-up is currently open at level one of Bugis Junction, in the open space in front of Intercontinental Singapore’s hotel entrance. It’ll be running daily from 11am to 9pm until March 10. Find out more via Suhyeongdang’s Instagram page.
