OK, everyone don't freak out but it turns out that 2018 is just around the corner. If you've been spending much of 2017 on your bum and will probably list 'Exercise more' as one of your New Year's resolution, here's a solution for you. Those already diligently working that bod, we salute you. Here's how to be even fitter in 2018.
Movement-based gym Kilter Avenue is holding a small group 12-week handstand course starting in January 2018, which caters to complete beginners and those already practising the move on their own (say, as part of your yoga practice). The goal? To accomplish an unassisted handstand (see above picture, demonstrated by a trainer at Kilter Avenue) while heightening sense of body awareness and muscular engagement.
This three-month-long course will cover the introduction to calisthenics and core activation, and starts you off with handstand holds against the wall. Depending on your fitness level and progression, the instructor will then move you on to more advance moves such as freestanding handstand holds and even handstand walks.
Kilter Avenue's 12-week handstand course ($370) starts Jan 18, 2018 and is held every Thursday at 6.45pm. Sign up here.
