Singaporeans travelling to Malaysia will no longer be required to fill in the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). This was announced by Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on December 5, 2023. However, starting January 1, 2024, other foreign nationals entering Malaysia will be mandated to complete the digital arrival card two to three days before arrival.

The reason behind Singapore’s exemption is that a notable number of Singaporeans enter Malaysia almost daily, making it more practical to grant them an exemption. This step is also anticipated to alleviate congestion at checkpoints. To add, the exemption for Singaporeans applies to all entry points and is not limited to the southern entry points in Johor.

Other travellers that are not required to fill in the MDAC are: diplomatic passport holders, Malaysian permanent residents, Brunei General Certificate of Identity holders, and Thailand Border Pass holders.
