Though fun-sized, Singapore has had several running wins throughout the past few years. And it’s easy to see why, given our amazing attractions, mouthwatering food scene with both restaurants and hawkers, charming nature parks just a stone’s throw away from the city centre, and bustling art and culture scene.
Solidifying this recognition, Singapore has once again made it to the World’s Best Cities for 2025 list by global place branding advisor Resonance, this time securing fifth place. The top 5 cities are as follows: London (UK) at #1 for the tenth consecutive year, followed by New York (USA), Paris (France), and Tokyo (Japan) at #5. Other Asian cities that made it to the list include Seoul, Bangkok, Beijing, Osaka and Kuala Lumpur.
Resonance’s Best Cities data is deemed as one of the world’s most thorough annual city rankings thanks to the methods used to analyse both the performance and perception of each city. This year’s ranking combines data from a survey of 22,000 individuals across 30 countries with performance data from the subcategories that form the overall ‘Livability’, ‘Lovability’, and ‘Prosperity’ indices. User-generated data from platforms like Google, Tripadvisor, and Instagram, assessing the quality of place based on experiential factors, were also used to identify the top 100 cities in the world.
So, how does Singapore stand out? Highlights include ranking 12th globally as one of the best cities for shopping, and securing 19th place in Resonance’s Restaurants subcategory for our vibrant dining scene. In the Prosperity Index, Singapore claimed fifth place in the GDP per Capita subcategory, reaffirming its position as Southeast Asia’s leading technology hub.
