To all Singaporean globetrotters, here’s some great travel news you should know about: Singapore has retained its status as the holder of the world’s most powerful passport this 2025, according to the Henley Passport Index. And this isn't a new crowning but a recrowning, building on last year’s 2024 report. But what does this mean for us exactly? Well, simply put, Singaporeans have visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide – that’s about 85 percent of the globe.
Kudos to Asia for dominating the top three spots, with Japan in second place (visa-free access to 193 destinations) and South Korea in the pool of countries that came in third (visa-free access to 192 destinations). Joining South Korea are European member states France, Germany, Italy, and Spain that have dropped two places, as well as Finland.
Following that, fourth place is shared among seven countries: Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, with visa-free access to 191 destinations. On the other hand, fifth place is taken by Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the UK with 190 visa-free destinations.
Who are the biggest risers and fallers over the past decade? Venezuela takes the title of the country with the biggest decrease in ranking, dropping from 30th to 45th place. Close behind is the United States, slipping from second to ninth. On a brighter note, the biggest riser is Kosovo, leaping from 103rd to 63rd place. China also made significant strides, climbing from 94th to 60th in 2025.
