If there was ever any doubt that Singapore is a foodie destination, then get this: our island-nation has just placed seventh in a list of countries with the highest number of Michelin restaurants per capita.

The ranking comes from the international food magazine Chef's Pencil, which looked at the number of Michelin restaurants in destinations around the world to produce country and city rankings of 'Michelin density'. Switzerland topped the country rankings with 134 Michelin restaurants (66,872 restaurants per capita), followed by Luxembourg, Malta, Belgium, and Hong Kong.

Singapore currently boasts 55 Michelin starred restaurants. Taken with our population of over six million, that works out to 114,000 Michelin restaurants per capita – not a bad showing at all. If you're curious about the breakdown, check out our guide to all the Michelin-starred restaurants in Singapore, which lists the entrants to the Micheline Guide Singapore 2023 list. It includes exquisite fine dining destinations like Les Amis, Odette, and Zén standing as the only Michelin three-starred restaurants, as well as humble hawkers like Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle with one Michelin star.

And here's a heads-up – the Michelin Guide Singapore 2024 selection will soon be revealed on June 25. So, watch this space to see what's the shake-up.
