Ask any Singaporean about Scoot, the low-cost sister airline of Singapore Airlines, and you’ll likely receive a polarised response. Some locals absolutely swear by this budget airline that goes to places as far as Greece at wallet-friendly prices, while others might say they’d rather pay twice the price to fly on economy class with a full-service airline instead.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Scoot is here to stay as one of the leading budget airlines in existence – and they’ve just marked their position as the world’s best long haul low-cost airline for 2024. Jetstar Airways, owned by Qantas, scores second place in this category, followed by Norse Atlantic Airways.
This award is part of Skytrax’s latest ranking for the world’s best airlines in 2024 – for which Singapore Airlines scored second globally and first in Asia, along with a couple of additional accolades for other aspects like cabin crew and business class seats.
That’s not the only honourable mention for Scoot this year. Scoot also comes second on both the world’s best low-cost airlines list as well as Asia’s best budget airline list for 2024, losing out to Malaysia’s AirAsia on both counts.
Other airlines that have been hailed as the best in Asia include Jetstar Asia (#4) which is majority Singapore-owned; Peach (#5) and Zipair (#8) from Japan; and AirAsia X (#9), the medium and long haul arm of AirAsia.
Globally, Scoot scores 32nd as part of the world’s best airlines list in 2024.
