Start the new year by indulging in all things art at comma 2025, *Scape’s annual youth arts festival. Running from December 31, 2024 to January 26, 2025, this month-long event brings together young talents to connect, collaborate, and showcase their skills across music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. Centered around the theme ‘Past x Present = Future;, the festival will dive into how heritage and modern influences have shaped our local art scene.

Comma will open with a bang on 31 December 2024 with Music Day Out – Magical Garden, an alternative New Year’s Eve countdown featuring an exciting lineup of indie musicians from Singapore and across Asia, from local grindcore legends Wormrot to city-pop stars Adoy.

On the other hand, *Scape is teaming up with Artbox by Invade for the first time ever to bring attendees the ArtBox Express. This special collaboration features a vibrant bus stop installation at *Scape, shuttling visitors between *Scape and Artbox. More than just a transit point, the installation will come alive with street performances, adding to the buzz and creativity of comma.

Other festival highlights include Somerset Threads, a live-action theatrical experience that brings Somerset’s history to life through interactive storytelling and gamified elements, and Lost Arts Found, a nostalgic residency rediscovering traditional trades like rattan weaving, Peranakan beading, and Chinese opera.

For fans of experimental art, check out Experimentation Ground and MOV:MENT Lab Exhibition where you’ll get to catch multidisciplinary works exploring movement, soundscapes, and film. Meanwhile, Homeground, the festival’s signature street dance showcase, will celebrate Singapore's vibrant dance community.

And Comma isn’t just about live performances and art shows – it also doubles up as a platform for growth. From mentorship opportunities with established industry professionals to hands-on workshops, the festival acts as a starting ground for young talents to explore their potential and connect with like-minded creatives. Alvin Tan, founder of The Necessary Stage, will also present Be The Change, a forum theatre experience aimed at fostering empathy and critical thinking through performance.
