Singapore’s newest Starbucks outlet isn’t just another branch of the cult coffee chain; This one’s got a whole Enchanted Forest theme, with a refreshing sprig of colour from floral decor – very much fitting for its Gardens by the Bay locale.
This isn’t the first Starbucks outlet at GBTB; There’s another one that opened a couple of years back at the Golden Garden near the attraction’s main entrance. On the other hand, this newest outlet is located within the free-entry Active Garden at the scenic Waterfront Plaza, so visitors can now pick the most convenient one to make a beeline to, depending on which area of the sprawling compound they happen to be at when coffee cravings hit.
Great news for pawrents: this Starbucks outlet at the Active Garden boasts a 100-square-metre pet-friendly al fresco area, in addition to an air-conditioned indoor zone for those seeking a quick respite from the outdoor heat. That’s not to say that you will be sweating buckets while seated outdoors with your furkid though, because the outdoor space is fully shaded, with blinds that can be rolled down to serve as an extra shield against the elements, rain or shine.
Mirroring the landscape that it's surrounded by, the coffee house is decorated with leafy tropical plants and moss, along with preserved flowers in vibrant hues of the rainbow – all expertly put together by Gardens by the Bay’s horticulturists. This includes a feature wall at the store’s entrance, which – surprise, surprise – is a coveted photo spot. Step in and you’ll spot cascading arrangements of pretty blooms draped from the ceiling, as well as whimsical flower globes that bring to mind the floral-themed Starbucks at Hana Biyori, a flower park in Japan.
Another point that gets our nod of approval: In line with Gardens by the Bay’s devotion towards sustainability, this particular starbucks outlet has eco-friendly features such as energy- and water-efficient equipment, and a composting programme where unwanted coffee grounds are passed on to GBTB’s horticulturists as part of their everyday plant cultivation work.
The next time you're in the area, swing by for an ice blended drink and maybe a snack – it'll be the perfect way to beat the heat while resting those feet after exploring the lush Gardens.
