Residents of Buangkok and anyone passing through this North-East neighbourhood, rejoice in the name of convenience! A new bus interchange, Buangkok Bus Interchange (BI), is set to open on December 1, 2024. Buangkok BI will be integrated with Sengkang Grand Mall and Buangkok MRT station, and is currently Singapore’s 12th Integrated Transport Hub (ITH).

Buangkok BI will commence with three bus services: 110, 114, and 156, with four more bus services to be added in the near future. In addition to offering greater convenience for nearby residents with easy access to amenities and the ITH, the buses will also provide connectivity between these neighbourhoods: Sengkang East Avenue, Anchorvale in Sengkang Town, Changi Airport, Serangoon, and Bishan.

The interchange will be accessible to all, with thoughtfully built features that cater to families with young children, seniors, as well as those with mobility challenges – think barrier-free access at entrances and a dedicated priority queue zone with seating at all boarding berths. On top of that, there will also be wheelchair-accessible toilets and a baby care room both equipped with touchless and auto-sliding doors and a commuter care room for those who require a quiet space.

And it’s not just commuters who are well taken care of – Buangkok BI’s staff have their own perks too, with canteens, staff toilets, a cleaner's room, and a lounge to unwind. And to keep things eco-friendly, Buangkok BI utilises energy-saving LED lights, an efficient aircon system, water-saving taps, and motion sensor lights.
