UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 24
We will no longer be required to wear a mask when indoors – it's now optional as of August 29. This was just announced by Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong today. They will also be optional when you next take a Grab, alongside taxi, school buses, and private buses.
However, we will still need to wear a mask while travelling on public transport, which includes the MRT, LRT and public buses, as well as indoor public transport areas such as bus interchanges. A mask is also required while in healthcare settings, such as healthcare facilities, care homes, and ambulances – as these are "essential areas where essential services" are "frequently used by vulnerable persons".

AUGUST 21
In Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s National Day Rally speech, it’s just been announced that masks will soon be optional indoors. As the current regulations go, masks have been compulsory in all indoor scenarios including shopping centres, cinemas, and schools.
This means that you can soon stroll around Singapore’s best shopping malls without wearing a mask. Schools will no longer require masks either, with PM Lee stating that “the children do need to be able to see the facial expressions of their teachers” as it is “crucial for their learning and development”.
However, you will still need to wear a mask while travelling via public transport or while in healthcare settings – hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes included.
Just so you know though, PM Lee emphasises to not “take off your masks this very moment”. More details will be announced by the Multi-Ministry Taskforce soon. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we find out more.
