With restrictions in Singapore being eased gradually and hotels opening for staycations again, you may have already been planning your next big trip or weekend getaway with high hopes of finally being able to travel again.

But here's sad news: National Development Minister Lawrence Wong announced in a virtual press conference on July 17 last week that the travel advisory remains for everyone in Singapore to avoid all travel – so it is unlikely that we will be able to travel for leisure this year. However, there are talks on green lane arrangements to facilitate essential business travel.

According to Mr Wong, the task force will also continually review and update border control measures for travellers who are entering Singapore.

Don't let the news dampen your spirits, though. Now that Singapore's attractions are emptier due to the lack of tourists; and hotels in Singapore offering promotions, there are various activities you can plan with your loved one or closest friends. Want to satisfy your wanderlust? We've curated some fun international experiences you can have in Singapore instead – whether you want to learn about Javanese and Balinese heritage or flex your climbing skills at quarries in Singapore.

If you miss taking in the culture of the world's bustling cities, embark on a public art trail in Singapore or wander about one of the best museums in the Lion City
