Happening in the heart of one of Singapore’s most vibrant districts is the recurring Kampong Gelam Bazaar. Organised by One Kampong Gelam and Eventify, together with the Singapore Tourist Board (STB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the bazaar will take place from March 2 to April 5, 2024, during Ramadan, following the theme Gemilang Kampong Gelam.
This year’s edition will spotlight Singapore’s oldest mosque, Masjid Sultan, in commemoration of its 200th year anniversary. Visitors can anticipate special collaborations celebrating this iconic landmark such as captivating light shows that will showcase its history dating back to the 1800s, as well as 107 local F&B and retail vendors that will be selling traditional and contemporary food and shopping selections for Hari Raya. There will also be several curated art installations planted across the district.
What’s more, a mass Iftar event, one where Muslims gather at sunset to break their fast during Ramadan, will take place on March 23, 2024 at 7pm across the stretch of Arab Street. This event is set to break the World Book of Records for being the largest Iftar in Singapore, with a projected 1,500 attendees.
The bazaar also presents a chance to give back to society through charity rides for food distribution and charity drives for beneficiary groups from the Sultan Mosque and Kampong Gelam Community Centre.
