Getting stuck in a jam while on the way to Johor Bahru from Singapore is pretty much a norm, but perhaps the heavy congestion will clear up a little come 2026. Instead of taking a bus, driving in, or riding the existing KTM Shuttle Tebrau train, commuters will soon have the additional option of the upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link.
This new train will be running between Singapore’s Woodlands North MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line, and JB’s Bukit Chagar station, not too far off from the popular City Square Mall.
According to the latest official announcements by both Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Malaysia’s transport ministry, the link has been 65 percent completed on both sides, and is on track to opening by the end of 2026.
The JB-Singapore RTS is said to be able to ferry commuters from Singapore to JB and vice versa in a matter of just five minutes, bringing greater convenience to passengers.
