Who would’ve thought there’d still be more surprises left in 2024? Not only did we see homegrown sandwich shop Korio – famous for its gourmet sandwiches and fluffy brioche doughnuts – make a comeback, but it’s just been announced that Japan’s Bake Cheese Tart is back on our shores for a limited-time pop-up, having reopened on December 27 thanks to overwhelming demand from its fans. It hasn’t been mentioned how long the pop-up will last, so make sure to head down quickly while it’s here.

The Hokkaido-hailing dessert brand, known for its rich, creamy cheese tarts in double-baked crusts, entered Singapore in 2016 with its first outlet at Ion Orchard. It expanded to Westgate and Nex, but closed all stores three years later during the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you’re among the many that mourned its closure, it’s time to rejoice. You can now get your hands on these popular cheese tarts at basement two of Takashimaya Singapore, in classic and new flavours – like earl grey cheese.

While there isn’t any word online about its pricing, a piece used to cost $3.50 – so fingers crossed that it’ll be the same this time round. Don’t miss its special reopening promotion – from now until January 27, 2025, you’ll receive one complimentary earl grey cheese tart with every six tarts purchased. Find out more here.
