Good things come to those who wait, and residents along Hume Avenue will be thrilled to know that Hume MRT station is open for passenger service on February 28, 2025 at 3pm. The opening of this station comes as a pleasant surprise as it was previously announced to only be ready in the second quarter of 2025.
Rain or shine, the station along Upper Bukit Timah Road is easily accessible thanks to the sheltered walkways that link the entrances to nearby bus stops and pick-up points. Choose from two entryways – one facing Bukit Timah Road and the other facing Hume Avenue. Those cycling to the station can also take advantage of the 60 bicycle parking lots at the entrance.
Passengers travelling from Hume can zoom over to Downtown in around 30 minutes on the DTL, saving up to 15 minutes of travel time. With the addition of the new Hume MRT station, the Downtown Line (DTL) will have a total of 35 stations.
And that’s not all – the Land Transport Authority has also announced that there will be three new MRT stations connecting DTL to the North-South Line in 2035. That’s on top of the previously expanded Thomson-East Coast Line in June 2024 and the new Punggol Coast MRT station on the North East Line in December 2024. Guess it’s no surprise that our country’s Mass Rapid Transport network was crowned as the second best public transport system in Asia.
