McDonald's previously announced a new Sanrio collaboration with red packets and card game sets, but those paper-based products aren't the only goodies you get to look forward to. The fast food chain has just teased a new exclusive My Melody mahjong set specially for Chinese New Year 2025, along with cushion plushies in the likeness of the hooded bunny character and her fellow Sanrio cutie, Cinnamoroll. Read on to find out how to redeem them.
When is the McDonald's My Melody mahjong set launching in Singapore?
The limited-edition McDonald’s Sanrio My Melody mahjong set deal will be made available on the McDonald’s app from January 13, 2025, at 3pm. Once you’ve secured the deal, you’ll then get to purchase it in person from January 20 to 23 January 2025, from 3pm to 9pm.
How much does the McDonald’s My Melody mahjong set cost?
The My Melody mahjong set by McDonald’s costs $228, on top of the 3,888 rewards points required to Isecure the deal online via the McDonald’s app.
How to redeem the My Melody mahjong set deal via the McDonald’s app
You’ll first have to be a MyMcDonald’s rewards member in order to be eligible. If you’re not, you can just download the McDonald’s app and sign up for a free membership. Upon clicking on the ‘Redeem McDonald's My Melody Mahjong Set’ tile in the app, you’ll then be directed to a virtual queue to access the redemption page. Be sure not to exit the page, as doing so would displace you in the queue.
If you successfully make it through the waiting room, you’ll then be given the option to exchange 3,888 points for the deal. Once this is confirmed, the deal should show up in your ‘Deals & Rewards’ page within the app. Click on the deal between January 13, 3pm to January 17, 5pm to secure your preferred time slot to purchase the My Melody mahjong set in person for $288.
Those who fail to pick their timeslot by January 17, 5pm may lose their chance to buy the mahjong set or be bumped down in priority.
Do note that simply having the deal secured in your app doesn’t automatically equate to you already owning one of these coveted mahjong sets – you’ll still have to buy it in person.
How to purchase the McDonald’s My Melody mahjong set in person
Once you’ve gotten through the frenzy of securing your deal via the McDonald’s app, head down to McDonald’s outlet at level 2 of Suntec City from January 20 to 23, between 3pm to 9pm (queues close at 8.30pm), to get your My Melody mahjong set in person for $228. Be sure to be logged into your McDonald’s app account and have the deal on standby.
Proof of deal must be shown to the staff before you’re able to join the queue, and no screenshots or photographs of the deal will be accepted. Once it’s your turn, use a McDonald’s self-ordering kiosk to pay for the mahjong set, and pass the receipt to the collection counter to bag that kawaii mahjong set home.
Is the My Melody mahjong set available at all McDonald’s outlets in Singapore?
No. You will only be able to purchase the Sanrio mahjong set at McDonald’s Suntec City branch (unit #02-732).
I don’t have enough McDonald’s points. Can I still buy the My Melody mahjong set?
Unfortunately, no. You’ll first need those 3,888 reward points in order to first claim the My Melody mahjong set deal. Without the deal in your app, you will not be able to purchase this Sanrio collectible.
How to get the McDonald’s My Melody and Cinnamoroll cushion plushies
Thankfully, collecting the My Melody and Cinnamoroll cushions as part of this McDonald’s Sanrio collaboration isn’t as complicated, nor as expensive. You can simply buy them for $13.80 each with the purchase of any value meal, upsized value meal, feast, 2x value meal, and family meal. The Cinnamoroll cushions will be launching on February 3, 11am, while the My Melody one will be available from February 10, 11am, while stocks last.
