Get ready for Gemilang Kampong Gelam (GKG) Ramadan Bazaar 2025 – returning from February 19 to March 25 with a lineup packed with food, culture, and all-around good vibes. If you missed last year’s festival (which attracted a whopping 1.1 million visitors), it’s time to mark your calendars because this edition is shaping up to be even bigger and better.

For its fifth year, this iconic celebration will showcase the very best of Kampong Gelam: heritage, community, and sustainability, with an exciting mix of experiences that’ll entertain visitors of all ages.

On February 15, kick off the festivities with the Kampong Charity Run 2025. This 2.4km run through Kampong Gelam is more than just a physical challenge – it’s about promoting healthy living and raising awareness about staying drug-free. Bonus: all proceeds go towards supporting those in need within the community.

At the Ramadan Bazaar, we all know the food is a major highlight. 2025’s edition will see 80 food vendors – feast on everything from the iconic Satay Ummi and House of Lemang to fusion options like Smashed Burgers and Turkish ice cream from Turkuaz. And if you need a shopping break, check out the bazaar, where you can find everything from festive cookies to traditional Malay fashion.

Apart from feasting and shopping, there will be several hands-on activities. Try your hand at Arabic calligraphy at Erwan Bar’s workshop or turn coffee grounds into exfoliating soap with Coffee Revive. And for the kids (or young at heart), participate in a range of workshops such as creating your own Dikir Barat puppets.

One of the bazaar’s highlights is none other than the Sultan Mosque Light Show. This year’s show features stunning visuals and a 5.1 surround sound experience created by Singaporean composer Sha’aban Yahya. From symbolic imagery like date trees to evocative music, the light show will transform the mosque into a visual masterpiece.

Don’t forget to catch this year’s performances too. Whether it’s the traditional Joget Parade or the soulful Dikir Barat performances, there’s something for everyone. You might even see some of your favourite Malay celebrities like Hannah Delisha and Mimifly live in action.

There will also be three new exciting activities: join the Kampong Tour and take a guided journey through the precinct, with stops for traditional Malay snacks and a $15 voucher for the food bazaar. Or try the Mystery Treasure Hunt where you could walk away with up to $8,000. And don’t forget to collect stamps from four key locations for a unique postcard souvenir with the Stamp Rally.

On March 22, the Mass Iftar is where the magic happens. 1,000 people will come together on Arab Street to break their fast in the ultimate celebration of community.

This year, GKG is also taking green initiatives to the next level. Expect solar-powered generators, zero waste efforts, and even discounts for those who bring their own water bottles.
