We’ve read all the books, seen all the films. But for all die-hard Harry Potter fans, the next top-tier activity to check off on the bucket list would be by heading down to an Order of the Phoenix orchestra. This live orchestral performance is happening for the first time in Singapore next year, from February 17 to 18 at the Esplanade Theatre.
It’s a high-definition 40-foot screening of the fifth movie and much like each Harry Potter film, it’s filled with plenty of twists and turns. Add on composer Nicholas Hooper’s magical score played live by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, and it's every Potterhead’s dream come true. Hooper even uses Japanese Taiko drums to play out the high intensity surrounding this entire film.
This fifth instalment is the turning point of the entire Harry Potter series, with Harry finally accepting his role as “The Boy Who Lived”. Armed with a saviour complex and loyal friends Ron and Hermione, the Order of the Phoenix is a fan favourite for good reason. After all, it’s when You-Know-Who also finally reclaims his corporeal form – red eyes, snake-like nostrils, and plenty of hissed Parseltongue phrases.
Besides this live Order of the Phoenix orchestra, you can also check out the new Harry Potter attraction that will be opening in mid-2023 as part of Warner Bros. Studio Japan or even simply head down to a Harry Potter-themed café right here in Boon Keng.
Tickets start from $79 and you can book here.
