Shortly following the closure of his two restaurants in Singapore in June, it was announced today that renowned French chef Joël Robuchon has passed away at the age of 73. In a report by Le Figaro, it stated that the highly decorated chef, who was responsible for 24 Michelin-starred establishments around the world, lost his battle against pancreatic cancer.
It also revealed that Robuchon was discreetly selling his restaurants to an investment fund based in England and Luxembourg, which could shed some light as to why the two restaurants here were shuttered with such short notice. It remains to be seen if L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon will re-open in Orchard Road as a report by The Business Times previously indicated.
