The completion of the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal (DCFT) opens up new travel options for Singaporeans to visit Desaru Coast, located on the East Coast of Johor. If Desaru Coast has been (or now is) a destination high up on your list of places to travel to, Singaporeans now have an almost direct ferry trip to and from Desaru.
In the past, you would have to take a ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal in Singapore to Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal in Kota Tinggi. Once you arrive in Tanjung Belungkor, there’s still a 30 to 45 minutes drive to Desaru. With the opening of the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal, reaching Desaru from Singapore is about to become even easier. Also, expect your car rides to be much shorter, approximately 10 minutes to Desaru.
With this new sea route, passengers will be able to embark on a journey from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. The ferry schedule will include two round trips from Singapore on Thursdays to Sundays and one round trip on Monday to Wednesday based on market demand. The capacity of the ferries serving this route will vary from 150 to 338 passengers. If the tourism industry gradually improves, the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal will also connect travellers from Singapore to Riau Islands of Batam, and Bintan to Desaru as well.
Malaysia will reopen its borders to international visitors from April 1, allowing travellers who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to enter the country without quarantine. Bored of Lazarus Island and looking for another white sandy beach nearby?
