One of the hottest nightlife spots in Singapore is getting a revamp! Clarke Quay, known for its establishments like clubs, bars and bistros, is set to turn into a bustling daytime attraction as well. Come 2023, Clarke Quay will also boast upgraded facilities, cafes, retail stores and even supermarkets – turning into a day-to-night attraction called CQ @ Clarke Quay.
Tenants that will be introduced in 2023 include music store Swee Lee, a FairPrice Finest supermarket with in-store dining, a beauty salon and a pottery-themed cafe Catching the Waves. Spa chain Natureland and restaurant Seafood Paradise are also part of the new establishments.
Here are the new changes you need to know about the new spot:
The revamped Clarke Quay will comprise three main zones, each boasting its own exciting day-to-night offerings. The Riverfront (Blocks A & D) will feature the riverside dining experience in an alfresco or heritage shophouse setting. A mix of retail lifestyle and F&B shops will be offered at The Warehouse (Block B) while The Circuit (Blocks C & E) will showcase the entertainment and F&B establishments.
New eateries for daytime dining
Restaurants with breakfast and lunch eateries will be introduced into Clarke Quay’s existing offerings, and pet-friendly alfresco dining options will also be situated along the Singapore River. Fairprice Finest will also be part of the lineup with a new in-store dining feature in the grocery store. Existing key tenants Zouk Group and 1-Group will also be refining their concepts and expanding their day-to-night offerings.
Activities
Music store Swee Lee will be located in The Warehouse zone of Clarke Quay. Those who are in for the thrill, head to Asia’s tallest Slingshot ride, which catapults you 70 metres above Singapore River. For a chill afternoon, opt for a spa session at Natureland which is set to open soon.
Green features
The refreshed area will also boast green features. This includes an energy-efficient chiller and a new canopy which can reduce solar heat gain while letting daylight in. A new multi-directional fan will also be installed to improve air circulation. While being energy-efficient, it also has a mist cooling function.
In addition, the property’s warehouses will be restored and given a fresh coat of heritage colours, a nod to Clarke Quay’s history. The Read Bridge will be given a facelift, including the upgraded steps that double up as seats and an accessibility ramp. Heritage panels, cast iron manhole covers and bronze plate tiles narrating the history of the Clarke Quay precinct will give a glimpse into Clarke Quay’s past.
