The popular American fast food chain Chik-fil-A is likely to open in Singapore soon.

The chain is most known for its famous Original Chicken Sandwich, a burger that features a piece of deep fried boneless chicken breast with dill pickle chips between toasted buns. The company has also gained attention for its tradition of closing on Sundays, which has earned them a nod in Kanye West’s 2019 hit lyric “closed on Sunday, you’re my Chik-fil-A”.

The company has already set up a head office in Singapore and posted a job listing on MyCareersFuture for a Head of Training position earlier this January. Hugh S. Park, Chik-fil-A’s Head of Asia Pacific, has also responded to media inquiries, saying the company is “looking at several possible locations throughout Asia, including Singapore”.

This news comes after the Wall Street Journal reported that the chain has put in place a $1 billion plan to expand in Asia and Europe by 2030. Andrew Cathy, chief executive and grandson of Chik-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy said the chain aims to “continue to innovate and try and test how [they] will do in international markets so that [they] can learn.”

Chik-fil-A was founded in 1967 in Atlanta, and remains a privately-owned and family-run business till today. With 3000 outlets across the country, it is also reportedly the third largest fast-food chain in the US by sales, after McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Further information on Chik-fil-A’s opening in Singapore such as a confirmed location or opening date has yet to be released, so watch this space for updates.
