Billie Eilish got fans ‘happier than ever’ as she performed in front of approximately 30,000 fans at the National Stadium on Sunday, August 21. It was the first concert held at the stadium ever since the pandemic struck back in 2020.

Eilish last performed in Singapore at the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival at Gardens by the Bay in 2018. This time, the venue was dressed up to the nines with a giant projection screen, a steep ramp, and dazzling lights and visuals. Eilish herself ran, skipped, and twirled around the large stage in a graffitied oversize tee, bike shorts, and gym shoes, quite a departure from her controversial look where she posed in a figure-hugging corset on the cover of British Vogue back in 2021.

Her frenzied fans screamed along to every word at her triumphant concert on Sunday night – completely unbothered by minor technical glitches onscreen. Eilish churned out top tracks and fan favourite numbers, transitioning into her newer tracks I Didn’t Change My Number and NDA. For the latter, the stage turned into a dark road with cars speeding past on the screen behind her.

Visuals were top notch during the concert. Red hues bathed the stage and audience while golden light dressed the arena during Goldwing. Legs of ballroom dances moved in time to Billie Bossa Nova and there were also home videos of Eilish, her parents, and her brother Finneas, who also joined her for this tour.

Eilish is clearly a natural-born performer. In the beginning, she flirted with the crowd, leapt around, and even dry-humped the stage. The audience was cajoled into a little dance routine on Oxytoxin and other relatively high energy songs. This was followed by stripped down performances, with Eilish showing her emotional side on hits like when the party’s over, delivered with her signature delicate, haunting vocals.

The most stripped-down moment of the show was also one of the best moments. Eilish and Finneas came to the front of the stage, both strumming guitars and singing i love you
