Renowned chef and restaurateur May Chow is coming to Singapore as part of her 2024 Asia Tour. From February 28 to 29, Chef May will be holding a pop-up at Junior The Pocket Bar, which featured in our 50 best bars list. Diners can expect a medley of dishes from Chef May’s Hong Kong restaurant Little Bao, and a curation of drinks by Head Bartender Hazel Long from Junior The Pocket Bar.
Canadian-born and based in Hong Kong, Chef May is the founder of two successful restaurants in Hong Kong – Little Bao and Happy Paradise. Her flair for executing novel interpretations of classic Chinese dishes has earned her plenty of recognition and accolades in the culinary scene, including being awarded Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants’ Best Female Chef in 2017. Some might have also caught Chef May’s TV appearances in programmes like MasterChef Asia and UK, as well as Top Chef.
The pop-up menu includes fan-favourite bites from Little Bao, such as the scrumptious Fried Chicken Bao and the shareable ‘Stir Fried Beef Noodles’ Fries. Also part of the programme is a collaboration with local ice cream brand Apiary Ice Creamery, which will join hands with Chef May to recreate a Singaporean rendition of the signature Ice Cream Bao from Little Bao.
The drinks list will see a Mushroom Peppercorn Martini featuring Ki No Bi Kyoto Dry Gin for fans of savoury cocktails, as well as a Pineapple Soy Sauce Highball made with Jameson Irish Whiskey for a touch of local flavours.
Junior The Pocket Bar will only be taking walk-ins for this pop-up on February 28 and 29.
