Those who frequent Takashimaya’s various food fairs may recognise Anri Bakery for its adorable dog mascot, and more importantly, its signature Aomori apple pie. The popular pastry house that originated in Osaka has four outlets in Thailand, but it will soon be launching its first outlet in Singapore. That means you no longer have to wait around for the next Takashimaya fair in hopes that Anri Bakery will make an appearance again – this is a permanent fixture in Takashimaya itself.
The Aomori apple pie is Anri Bakery’s bestseller, and for good reason. As the name suggests, the pie exclusively uses Aomori apples, which are known for their sweetness and crisp texture, and have been crowned the best apples in Japan. While the apples rightfully steal the show, the experience is elevated by the delicate and flaky puff pastry that seamlessly ties all the flavours together. For those who can’t get enough of Anri Bakery’s apple pie, try its Big Apple Pie, which is around five times the size of the regular apple pie and accompanied by a light but sweet custard filling.
Besides apples, the pies also come in a variety of flavours, such as chocolate, sweet potato, and almond. Anri Bakery also offers mini croissants and cornets filled with custard or chocolate cream. Although the price list has yet to be released, Singaporeans can expect each pie to be priced around $6.50, similar to the prices at its Takashimaya Summer Food Fair booth. The shop’s opening date, time, and location have yet to be determined, so stay tuned for more details.
