Sports and fitness store Decathlon recently opened its doors at Northshore Plaza in Punggol on October 29. The sixth Decathlon Experience Store carries over 5,000 items across 60 sports, has self-help machines and activities and even boasts an Instagrammable mural. What’s interesting about this store is that it allows fitness enthusiasts to discover more about themselves through a sport via a space called Singapore’s Active Health Discovery zone.
Those interested can experience a range of sports and learn about exercise science through interactive self-assessment kiosks and regular workshops organized by Active Health coaches. These coaches will also issue tips on how individuals can keep themselves fit.
Decathlon has also taken strides to make its store sustainable and carbon-neutral. The two-storey branch has an indoor running track made out of recycled running shoes. Electronic waste bins have also been installed around the store for customers to dispose of electronic waste appropriately. The store also has donation bins within the premises, encouraging customers to donate their old shoes so it can be given a new lease of life as recycled infrastructure materials.
The store also aims to switch to using fully biodegradable materials for its packaging for online orders and fleece products. For more information, read up here.
