Astronomy geeks, here's something exciting to look forward to this weekend. On August 22, you may be able to see the mystical Blue Moon (or the Sturgeon Moon) gracing our skies. The moon will also be near two magical planets, Jupiter and Saturn – so it's a rare sight worth gazing at the skies for.

This weekend's 'Blue Moon' adds to an already astronomically packed month, right when the stunning Perseids meteor shower lights up the sky and both Saturn and Jupiter are at their brightest. Don't be fooled by its name, though, the moon won't actually appear blue. Astronomers define a 'Blue Moon' as the third full moon during a season that has four full moons. Instead, the full moon will appear orange as it rises before turning to a pale yellow as it ascends higher into the sky.

This will be the last real 'Blue Moon' for three years, too. The last such event was on May 18 and the next will be August 19, 2024 – so it's an event you'd definitely not want to miss. The full moon will appear in the night sky brightest on Saturday and Sunday nights on August 21 through 22.

Additionally, if you're spiritual, the 'Blue Moon' is just as astrologically significant. The full moon rising on August 22 is the second one in a row to take place in the sign of Aquarius. This means that this will double your opportunity to manifest your goals.
