Of the many new and upcoming attractions to look forward to in 2024, the new arts and lifestyle cluster by The Lo & Behold Group is among the most anticipated. And now, we have an official name and launch date to get hyped about. Lo & Behold announced today that the enclave will be called New Bahru, and it's set to open in stages from May at 46 and 58 Kim Yam Road leading up to an open house on June 22 and 23.

New Bahru is situated in former Nan Chiau High School in River Valley. After a facelift by architects FARM, it will soon be home to dozens of exciting homegrown brands, many of which are taking the opportunity to launch their first physical store or new concept. In the food and drink space, you can look forward to a new flagship store by granola bakery Dearborn, a new concept by Mirko Febbrile of Fico fame, and a café by pioneering coffeehouse PPP Coffee.

Get your wallets ready for retail stores like Beyond The Vines Design House, the brand's largest store to date which will offer customisation services and exclusive collections; coffee capsule brand Morning's first physical store; and Soilboy's first experience store, bringing lush plant installations and workshops. There are tons of wellness and entertainment options too, including a Kiztopia Prestige playground and Hideaway, a healing and recovery space by The Trapeze Group that focuses on massages, cold plunges and infrared saunas.

To top it all off, New Bahru will include an 83-key service apartment called Alma House. It'd be a waste if it did not have exclusive offerings drawing from the dozens of brands on its doorstep. True enough, Alma House (operated and managed by Project X) has teased that in-room amenities, dining, and wellness experiences will be made available through special packages and collaborations with the creative brands at New Bahru. It's also partnering with local furniture store Castlery to furnish its rooms and lobby lounge to give guests a taste of its seasonal collections.

Spaces have been carved out in New Bahru to host pop-up programmes and events, such as The Lawn (which will feature a playground in partnership with Oatside), the Factory, and the School Hall. You can get a taste of such events at the New Bahru Open House on June 22 and 23 organised jointly with cultural advocates PPURPOSE, which promises art installations, workshops, talks, and activities. Further into the future, New Bahru will also host Green-house 2024, an experiential retail event featuring local sustainable lifestyle brands. Watch this space for more exciting details to come.
