With the accessibility of recording tools and music production software, bedroom production is on the rise, especially among young, budding musicians. Guilty as charged, I've sourced various microphones, accessories and software such as Pro Tools and Logic Pro, and turned my tiny bedroom into a mini studio. But there's nothing quite like a well-equipped studio with a team of experienced sound technicians behind it.

While Singapore may not have the famous Abbey Road Studios, it sure does have intimate recording studios complete with Grade-A tools for you to write, record, mix and perform.

Newly opened, Saylah Studios is a one-stop creative atelier that features a music production studio for recording, a multi-purpose space that doubles up as an exhibition platform, and a hang out spot for friends at their occasional gigs.

Founders Ernest and Krysta were musicians before they were sound engineers, so you will be happy to know they will be able to lend a hand when it comes to music tracking as well. And if you’re unsure about committing to a session just yet, make a trip down to feel out the space and engage in a casual consultation about your next project. Contact them via Instagram

A true hidden gem – Wild Pearl is a music production studio in Pearl's Hill Terrace. Music creators are free to rent out the space in 2-hour or whole-day slots to record budding masterpieces. But what's got us excited is the occasional open house night hosted at Wild Pearl. By that, we mean parties – complete with drinks and DJs spinning the decks. It's all a little hush-hush. The Music Parlour

For a cosy jamming and recording sesh, look no further than the Music Parlour. Sharing the same space with music shops and services, it's also home to three industrial studios and an acoustic lounge that also acts as a control room for recording and mixing. The rooms range from small to extra large and are divisible by retractable panels, so if you decide to mass rock out, the rooms can be altered to accommodate more than 20 people. Don't worry about instruments too – you can borrow its in-house guitars.

Rather than down at the basement as its name suggests, climb up the Golden Mile Tower for a space that's well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities fit for practices, recordings and playful jamming sessions. Despite welcoming avid music jammers of all levels, the Basement Studios is relatively hot for those serious about their craft, even opening its space for 24 hours on Saturdays.

Here's a recording and media production studio that prides itself on delivering top-notch productions for a wide range of genres. What particularly stands out at Backbeat Studios is its acoustic control. Its wall panels and ceiling panels are positioned and angled in such a way that they absorb sound to optimise the acoustics and control their reverb and frequency responses. And if you've got a tight budget or deadline, consult with the team and they'll get you sorted in a jiff.
