This is one for the flannel-shirt indie folksters. Celebrating the launch of their third album, Hanging up the Moon fills The Substation for two nights with their hushed folktronica tunes.
Hanging up the Moon began as the solo project of ex-Concave Scream frontman Sean Lam, but has since evolved into a five-piece. Their third record, Immaterial, sees the band depart from the alt-folk of their earlier albums. It’s far more complex, with strings and electronic murmurs laying the groundwork for Lam’s soaring vocals – in fact, a string sextet is set to join the band at The Substation.
