The Tiny Roaster is one of those little cafés we'd all love to have in our neighbourhood – except it doesn't actually make espresso drinks. Instead, the chrome coffee machine at Tiffany Chan and Alex Chong's new outpost is more often used to test the coffees they roast at the back of their HDB shophouse.
This is part of Chan and Chong's mission to spread the homebrewing gospel. The rotating range of single-origins from bean-growing countries like Panama, Guatamala and Kenya, as well as their own West St signature blend, are brewed with contraptions like the Dripper, Aeropress and French press. These methods pack more clarity of flavour than the regular punch of espresso. A suite of equipment and bags of coffee beans are also stocked to arm caffeine-seekers with their own brewing tools.
