Inspired by their love for eggs and coffee, cousins Karen Chong and Charles Yoshida started Rise and Grind Coffee Co. to provide competition for the growing ranks of cafes in the Upper Bukit Timah neighbourhood.
The breakfast and brunch plates are typical, but with an Asian persuasion. The Hangover Cure ($18) is a hefty serving of bacon, mushroom, avocado, poached eggs, grilled haloumi and brioche, while the Asian shows up in plates like chilli crab pasta ($16) and Asian Invasion burger ($17) stacked with a pork patty, pineapple kimchi and Sriracha aioli. Yoshida also uses a variety of unique add-ins like beetroot yoghurt and yuzu hollandaise in some of the dishes here.
