Experience Asia through a vintage lens at this year's Asian Restored Classics, an annual film festival presented by the Asian Film Archive. This year's affair aptly takes place at the beautiful Capitol Theatre and the National Museum of Singapore’s Gallery Theatre from August 24 to September 2. The specially curated film festival shines its spotlight on nine regional classics released during the late 1920s to 1990s – all presented with artfully restored images and sound.

Long-time movie fans and a new generation of audience are able to discover and appreciate historical and iconic films in its true cinematic experience. Book your tickets and sit tight for narratives surrounding a variety of themes, including those telling of post-war struggles such as Tokyo Story (1953, Japan), a moving tale about an aging couple whose children are too busy for them, the story of a man and his family in Aimless Bullet (1960, Korea), and an unlikely friendship between a communist soldier and the village folks in Yellow Earth (1984, China). For an adrenaline rush, there's indie coming-of-age thriller Made in Hong Kong (1997, Hong Kong), Orang Minyak (1958, Singapore/Malaysia), which is based on the urban legend of the same name, and the powerfully intense Batch '81 (1982, Philippines). Alternatively, you can opt for some light-hearted comedy-musical like Dark Heaven (1958, Thailand), go on a culinary adventure with Tampopo (1985, Japan), or a romantic trip to the Taj Mahal with Shiraz: A Romance of India (1928, UK).

Don’t miss this well-curated showcase of stunningly restored films at the Asian Restored Classics 2018. General tickets are available at $13, and concession tickets for students, senior citizens and National Service full-timers are priced at $11. Buy three or more tickets to enjoy a bundled price of $9.50 per ticket. PAssion card members enjoy 15% off tickets. Book your tickets now at Asian Film Archive or any SISTIC outlet.
