Explore the contradictions and dichotomies of how women are viewed in society in She’s Auspicious, a dance and music work devised by internationally acclaimed bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance) artist Mythili Prakash. She’s Auspicious examines the relationship between the worship of goddesses and the treatment of women in society and will be performed by an all-female ensemble, which is rare for a bharatanatyam performance. The performance first premiered in 2021 at Hamburg’s Reflektor Festival and was further developed at the Jacob’s Pillow dance centre in 2022 and at the University of Colorado in 2024.
