As Singapore hawker experts Makansutra hosts yet another series of dialogues on the state of street food at the World Street Food Congress, there’s one way to get some learning done while you eat.

At this year’s food festival-esque Jamboree, 24 street food vendors from a dozen cities present rustic dishes that are rare to Singapore. Expect tastes of ayam taliwang – Lombok’s take on spicy grilled chicken – Filipino roasted suckling pig with truffle paella, and mini Vietnamese bánh can seafood pancakes.

And just because we’re in the thick of all things SG50, five selected local dishes – mee kuah, chilli crab, carrot cake, satay bee hoon and har cheong kai – will be showcased and sold at the Singapore Pavilion. Bring cash. Lim Sze Yuan
