Singapore, here are your newly minted Michelin-starred restaurants.
It's been a long time coming, but the Michelin Guide Singapore 2016 is finally here. And a total of 29 restaurants have been conferred that elusive star – or, as the French call it, 'macaroon' – by the mighty epicurean manual.
Resorts World Sentosa walked away as the night's biggest winner, with four of its restaurants picking up stars, including Joël Robuchon Restaurant, which was crowned as Singapore's only three-Michelin-starred establishment.
But big ups to Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle and Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, the only two hawkers – possibly in the world – to bring home a macaroon apiece. Tang Chay Seng, the 70-year-old hawker of the popular bak chor mee stall, has no plans to raise his prices, which now begin at five bucks a bowl.
The guide uses five criteria to assess these restaurants: mastery of technique; quality of ingredients; chef's personality; value for money; and consistency.
Which of these have you dined at?
