It's that time of the year again. Before the Michelin Guide Singapore 2017 is announced on June 29, the people behind the dining bible have released a list of affordable and delicious eats under $45 to check out.

This year, 38 restaurants have been awarded the honour, up from last year's 34, and features nine new entrants. The newbies range from hawker stalls to more predictable picks like Tsuta, an import from Sugamo, Tokyo, that holds a Michelin star. Here's the Bib Gourmand list for 2017:

1. Ah Er Soup (ABC Brickworks Food Centre)

This hawker stall focuses on Cantonese-style herbal soups. Favourites include the Ten Tonic Ginseng Chicken Soup ($5) and Buddha Jumps over the Wall ($6.50).

2. Bar-Roque Grill

Be transported to the Baroque era at this casual French rotisserie restaurant. Don't miss its signature free range rotisserie chicken ($32) served with a salad, potato gratin and mushroom sauce.

3. Liao Fan Hawker Chan (78 Smith Street)

Having shot to international fame after bagging a Michelin star for his soya sauce chicken rice stall in Chinatown last year, chef Chan Hong Meng is being recognised for his culinary skills once again. Liao Fan Hawker Chan is a comfortably air-conditioned eatery selling the same menu as the original joint, albeit at slightly higher prices.

4. Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant

For freshly grilled live eels that are flown in from the Mikawa Isshiki region for Japan, head to Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant by chef Teppei Yamashita. Read our full review here

5. New Lucky Claypot Rice

A popular hawker stall that sees long queues on the reg. Its star dish is the claypot wu wei rice ($10/$15/$20), which can comfortably feed two to four, depending on the size you order. The dish comes packed with chicken, pork, two types of lup cheong and salted fish.

6. The Blue Ginger Restaurant

Located in the heart of the CBD, The Blue Ginger Restaurant is a great spot to introduce people to Peranakan food as it's less spicy than most. You'll find classics such as babi pongteh and ayam buah keluak but we highly recommend trying its crispy rolls of ngoh hiang and steamed otah-otah, too. 7. Shirokane Tori-Tama

When we say that this Japanese yakitori restaurant uses every part of the chicken, we mean it. There are over 20 types of skewers available, cockscomb to spleen. It also serves a mean yakitori bowl topped with chicken done two ways, minced and grilled, served with a luscious onsen egg to mix into your rice.

8. Tsuta (Pacific Plaza)

No surprises here. One-Michelin-starred Tsuta from Sugamo, Tokyo made its way to our shores last year, opening its first international outlet at Pacific Plaza. There are three types of soup bases to choose from, but we recommend sticking with its signature shoyu broth served with black truffle paste.

9. Zai Shun Curry Fish Head

Taking up the space of an entire coffee shop, Zai Shun Curry Fish Head is famous for its steamed fish dishes served with a side of Teochew porridge.

These nine eateries join 29 others on the Michelin Bib Gourmand who received the honour last year as well. These include:
