Step aside crooners, and make way for your local beatsmiths. These rising music mavericks are out to steal the spotlight with their brand of pulsating, slick beats and dancey anthems. So if you need a quick pick me up to get over that midweek slump, or just want a fresh dose of music, then check out these young guns below and add them to your playlist.
Perk Pietrek – I Believe EP
He’s already got the attention of American EDM hip hop gods Far East Movement, so you can bet that Perk Pietrek’s latest EP is nothing less than a collection of loud and groovy club tracks – fitting for a summer party soundtrack in Ibiza. The EP’s closer ‘Water Burn’ will have you dancing up a sweat in no time (read: it’s #lit AF).
Evanturetime – ‘Vultures’ feat. Linying and Charlie Lim
If you’re scratching your head about the unfamiliar name, then it’s time to get educated. Evan Low, aka Evanturetime, is far from a newcomer in the local music scene, having worked on projects with top dogs like The Sam Willows and iNCH – and this time it’s his turn to shine. His debut single ‘Vultures’, co-written with the help of singer-songwriter Linying, is total synthpop ear candy. But the cherry on top is the melding of Linying’s pillowy soft vocals with Charlie Lim’s pleasant pipes on the track. Talk about an all-round dreamy collaboration.
MYRNE – ‘Ignition (remix)’
Hot on the heels of playing at ULTRA Singapore’s live stage last month, this 21-year-old trap star’s hitting the deck once again (and an actual one, too) as he graces the annual EDM cruise festival It’s the Ship’s roster in November. Though his latest release is a sexy, bass-heavy electronic remix of R Kelly’s classic ‘Ignition’, it should be enough to tide you over until an original drops.
