Cirque Du Soleil's TOTEM has finally made its way to our shores. If you need any more convincing as to why it's absolutely worth more than the price of its admission ticket, check out what we loved about it.
The cutting-edge technology
In true Cirque Du Soleil tradition, TOTEM's stage morphs into an ocean, a sandy beach, a grass field and even a barren desert. At one point, it even opens up and transforms into a jet ski – go big or go home, indeed.
The Baywatch bodies
'Those abs, though', I thought to myself as I chugged my second cup of beer-belly formula.
The shimmer
By now, it’s clear that glitter and sparkle are inextricable from a Cirque Du Soleil show. TOTEM opens with a single performer, clad in a full-shimmer bodysuit, descending from the highest point of the Big Top. The Crystal Man, as he is dubbed, appears in almost every scene to illuminate the arena with the play of light reflecting off the numerous small mirrors and crystals on his hand-stitched costume.
The costumes
You don’t need to be a fashionista to be in awe of the costumes in the 'Russian Bars' segment. The troupe of ten breaks into a breathtaking acrobatic act in their skintight, multicoloured bodysuits. Serious #OOTD-envy will ensue.
Cirque Du Soleil: TOTEM happens from now till Dec 6.
